ClearStream Technologies Ltd., the specialist manufacturer of angioplasty products based in Ireland, is in the midst of a programme which will see them significantly expand their range of coronary and peripheral angioplasty products over the next few months.
Their new family of rapid exchange peripheral catheters the “Salix™75/10” & the “Salix™130/30” is based on a proven coronary catheter design utilising a kink resistant hypotube shaft and a flexible distal portion. Featuring semi-compliant balloons which enable accurate vessel sizing, the products are available in a range of sizes from 5–9mm for the “Salix™75/10” and 2.0–10mm for the “Salix™130/30”. The “Salix™130/30” has a catheter length of 130cm and a distal portion of 30cm which may be suitable for lower limb or carotid use.
The “Salix™75/10” has a catheter length of 75cm and a distal portion of just 10cm, which is a unique design, and may indicate that the product is suitable for renal use. Control of the balloon position during inflation within a short stenosis is assured by the product design. Due to the control abilities of the “SalixTM75/10” a long sheath may be used instead of a guide catheter during renal procedures allowing significant cost benefits.
The SalixTM family of products may be used in ballon angioplasty procedures. Used with a 0.018”guidewire the proven hypotube design ensures high pushability and it’s flexible distal portions enable navigation of even the most tortuous curves. These new catheters allow ClearStream Technologies to bring rapid exchange technology with the benefits of single operator usage and a full range of balloon sizes to the peripheral market for the first time.
