Medical Ventures Corporation, a medical devices company specialising in products for the cardiovascular and surgical markets, has received European CE approval for its Metricath Gemini balloon-catheter product. The device is used during angioplasty procedures to measure and treat damaged blood vessels in patients suffering from cardiovascular disease.
The approval allows the Metricath Gemini device in both coronary and peripheral (non-coronary) vascular applications throughout the EU. With approval in place, Medical Ventures will begin marketing the product through its existing distributors in Italy, Greece, Austria and Switzerland. The company is pursuing additional distribution agreements in other European countries.
