
With the support of Medi, this year's Charing Cross Symposium will host an inaugural vascular nursing course. The three hour session, beginning at 9.15am on Monday 11, April in the Pippard Lecture Theatre (Sherfield Building, Imperial College) will begin with discussion of 'hot topics'.
Keith Poskitt and Maxine Taylor will discuss Efficacy of bandages in the healing of venous ulcers, followed by Justine Reise's presentation on the value of supervised exercise for intermittant claudication. Andrea Nelson will present on 'VNUS Trial: short stretch versus CX 4 layer bandage for venous ulcers' and Janice Nicholson on Defeating MRSA, followed by a 15 minute discussion session. Adam Howard will then discuss Protocol for abolition of post operative DVT.
The second part of the course will be on the patient's perspective, with Bruce Campbell discussing 'Best practise for informed consent'. The third and final part of the nursing session, Research insights, will feature Peter Walton discussing 'Key success factors for accurate audit' and Louise Brown on 'Patient benefit from clinical trials'.
The inaugural nursing course director is Angela Williams.
