Edwards Lifesciences will showcase its Edwards LifeStent FlexStar and Edwards LifeStent FlexStar XL systems at the year's Charing Cross International Symposium. The company claims the design of the LifeStent FlexStar stent, with its patented triple helix architecture and optimised cell size, deliver exceptional radial strength and uniform support. Moreover, such design features maximise lumenal integrity allowing exceptional axial flexibility and conformability, which allow the stent to be bent 180° or even twisted without kinking.
The LifeStent FlexStar delivery system allows for consistently accurate placement with both one-handed and pin-and-pull deployment options, each enhanced by a thumbwheel for additional precision. The company has recently launched the LifeStent FlexStar XL stent that is available in lengths up to 170mm to address more clinical challenges with a single stent.
LifeStent Valeo Peripheral Stent System
The company will also showcase the Edwards LifeStent Valeo Peripheral Stent System that is designed for peak performance. The system is premounted on a nylon balloon with a tapered tip and low profile to facilitate crossing. The patented triple helix architecture provides flexibility while tracking and conformability when expanded. Moreover, the triple helix architecture combined with a unique strut design offers outstanding radial strength and minimal recoil.
RESILIENT
The performance of the Edwards LifeStent NT system is currently being assessed in the RESILIENT trial and is to evaluate safety and efficacy of the stent compared to PTA-alone for the treatment of de novo or restenotic (non-stented) lesion(s) of the native superficial femoral artery and/or proximal popliteal artery. Twelve months results from the trial will be presented by Dr Barry Katzen, Miami, FL, on Saturday afternoon in the Great Hall.
